But, by the time you hit the screen to accept it, the walk request has already been accepted by someone else.
Now, you once again come across another request and this time it’s a fully grown Scottish deerhound for a 30-minute walk in the noon. Again, you are ready to take on the challenge, but before you could accept, it’s too late.
This is a type of situation that’s experienced by almost every other dog walker. There are hundreds of requests on the walker’s app, but they get filled as soon as they come.
So, how is it that you can overcome such small difficulties and can get more walk requests?
Well, given below are a few tricks and tips that will help you grab the opportunity before any other dog walker does.
1. Be available
This is the most important thing every dog walker should do to so as to get as many requests as they want. You don’t know when a request might pop up on your mobile and how fast it would be taken away by another walker.
So, it is good to be available on the app all the time so that you can respond to a request before anyone else does. But make sure that you are not engaged in another activity at the same time. This might distract you from being quick and take the dog walk away from you.
And, if you are waiting for the first dog walk of your life, then we’d advise you to focus on the screen all the time. If you spend 4 to 5 hours fully focusing on the screen of your phone, you will definitely get a request. But, as it’s always said, ‘the more the merrier’, so try to give it a complete day.
2. Be quick
Sounds tough, eh? It doesn’t have to be, provided you have your mobile in your hand all the time. As soon as the notification pops up on the screen, hit the request button without wasting even a second. Some walkers spend time having a look at the dog, the time of the walk and location and puff, just like that the request is gone.
Now, it is worth to do it; but, if it’s your first walk, then give it a go in no time. Make sure that your fingers are running faster than your mind and hitting the screen before you could think about anything else.
3. Have fewer filters
Well, you won’t always get the conditions that you’re looking for. For example, if you live in a well-structured area of the city and are expecting walks in the same place, then you need to think again.
Maybe, you get a request from a pet owner situated somewhere far from your location or in some congested area.
At times, there is also a night and days difference between the two parts of a city, which can make you feel as if you’re entering into a completely different world. But it’s okay, you are going to be there for not more than an hour.
Also, since this is your work, it’s absolutely fine to go as per the demands of pet parents.
Sometimes, you might get the ride that won’t add to your wallet much, but that will certainly give you a different experience. Once you complete a significant number of walks, you will start getting more requests and can pick the one according to your location and other conditions.
